The story of one missionary who worked as a nurse for ten years (1940-1950) in China and the Philippine Islands. - Roderick HallLanguage/Translation Info: EnglishSummary: Personal account of an American missionary nurse who was assigned to China in 1940. Due to the Sino-Japanese War, she moved to the Philippines but was caught by the war when she was in Baguio. As a nurse, she tried to assist where she could, but was interned with the other American and British civilians when the Japanese took over the city. She remained an internee for the next three years; with the other Baguio internees she was moved to Bilibid Prison in Manila, where she was liberated. She devotes almost half of this book to her experiences in the Philippines; the remaining half describes her return to China and ministering there until the Communists took over, when she had to return to the US. This memoir is different from others in that it is told from the point of view of Crim’s violin, which accompanied her throughout. - Prof. Ricardo T.
